People & Structure - Education

COMPASS provides opportunities for policy makers and other interested persons to learn more about the role of COMPASS as a metropolitan planning organization (MPO). Elected officials and staff from member agencies, as well as the general public are invited to attend our “COMPASS 101” orientation program.

“COMPASS 101” is valuable for people new to transportation planning as well as those who would like an update. Participants learn about the role of COMPASS as a metropolitan planning organization (MPO), federal requirements and funding, and key products and services. In addition, current “hot topics” are discussed. The next COMPASS 101 workshop will be held in January 2013; “hot topics” will include transportation funding and MAP-21, the new federal transportation law.
