While the Treasure Valley is relatively safe from catastrophic weather events such as hurricanes and widespread tornados, winter storms, spring flooding, and summer wildfires can still wreak havoc on our transportation system. The resulting impacts can range from mere inconveniences to being deadly. Join COMPASS to learn why proactively planning for a resilient transportation system is key to minimizing the impacts and disruptions caused by extreme weather and natural hazards and how we can make our transportation system more resilient when severe weather hits.

Every region has its own potential weather threats that can disrupt the transportation system. Impacts can range from being a mere inconvenience, to causing expensive damage, to being downright deadly. Join COMPASS as we explore how to plan for, and make the case for investing in, resilient transportation infrastructure before disaster strikes. This workshop will help planners and other transportation practitioners navigate the basics of transportation resilience and provide a framework for integrating it into regional and statewide transportation planning and using it for making informed decisions in a changing environment. The workshop will include interactive exercises that will familiarize attendees with concepts and approaches to assess the resilience of transportation infrastructure and make the case for investing in resilience.
